You should expect some discomfort right after surgery which should gradually improve over the next few days or weeks. As your wound heals and you get used to living with your new joint, the joint pain you experienced before your operation should start to improve or resolve over a period of six to eight weeks. The patients with the most severe joint wear tend to recover faster.
